Whereas most kids are happy snooping around the local toy stores or joke shops, I always loved to hang out in guitar stores. There’s something about guitar stores that that has always drawn me in even to this day. In my opinion, musical instruments are beautiful, all musical instruments, and even if you can’t play them I think they can make for great décor in the home.

There are many different types of guitar stores to buy the guitar you want whether you want to rock out with an electric guitar or want to play by the campfire with a classic acoustic one.

Regular guitar stores, which specialize in guitars specifically, are one of the better places to buy the guitar. Besides the wide selection that these guitar stores have in the way of the instrument, the staff will generally be more knowledgeable on the subject and the consumer can ask many questions about the guitar that they are looking for. My brother managed to buy his dream left handed bass guitar from our specialist dealer, but the mere request for such an instrument in the musical section of our local department store got him nothing but a strange look from the sales assistant.

You’ll have to be a guitar geek to get excited about that one!

Being a musician is a tough gig. Therefore many times musicians need money and their last resort could be going to a pawn shop to sell their guitar. For this reason pawn shops can be great guitar stores if you are looking for a bargain. Unlike other guitar stores which have accessories and are more knowledgeable about the instrument pawn shops can have quality guitars at discount prices. If you already know a lot about the instrument they can be places where you can purchase one.

Even if you are a beginner these types of guitar stores can be good if you are thinking about playing and want to pick out an instrument that is used and less expensive rather than a new one which will cost more. Along this line one of the biggest guitar stores can be found on the Internet on sites such as eBay. You must be careful though as you can only see a picture of the item and not check it out first hand like at a pawn shop or regular guitar stores.

The Internet is the biggest retailer of guitars, but make sure you research thoroughly as you don’t have the option of a hands on demonstration or the ability to handle the guitar to see if it fits your style.

Guitar stores in both categories of new or second hand both have advantages. It all depends on what you are looking for, how much you want to pay for it, and the knowledge that you have or need in playing a guitar.

One things for certain, if you really want to know how to play the guitar, it’s action, not inaction that will get you started.
